WELCOME TO THE WONDERFUL BLOG OF OZ!!
PRODUCTION INFORMATION:
Casting:
You must currently be in 4th grade through 12th grade to be
in the show. Most parts will be “double
cast” which means that each actor will perform in half the shows. You should list on the audition form if you
want to be particularly considered for a certain role.
Filling out the Audition Form: Please fill out your form accurately and completely.
Please be very clear as to whether you are willing to
accept any role. We appreciate honest information. Saying you will only take a certain role does
not bias us in any way in your
audition. Saying you will accept any
role and then turning down a part because it is too small will make us very
unhappy. Please list all conflicts. We read these carefully and will actually
adjust the rehearsal schedule to work around your conflicts if we can. Not
listing any conflicts, and then missing rehearsals later will result in
re-casting or being asked to leave the show.
Callbacks and Cast list: We may be calling back some actors to take a second
look at them for these roles: Dorothy,
Scarecrow, Tin Man, Lion, Glinda, Wicked Witch, Aunt Em and Uncle Henry and
possibly additional Munchkin and Oz
Ensemble roles. The posting for
callbacks will be on this blogsite: https://wozcenterstage.blogspot.com
by 8pm on Saturday, December 16 . We will also try to contact you by email. Callbacks will be on Sunday afternoon, December
17. A detailed callback schedule will be
on the website as well as links to material that you will need for callbacks.
Please come to callbacks relaxed and open to direction. If you
are not called back, please don’t be discouraged. You are still being considered for every role
in the show, but we do not need to see you in combination with other
actors. CenterStage reserves the right
to call back actors at any step of the audition process. We intend to post the cast list as soon as
possible after callbacks, but no later than Tuesday night, December 19. Check this site for updates and check the email provided for
auditions for more information.
Fees:
There is a $415 participation fee and $80 costume fee for each cast
member. Limited scholarships are
available for those with financial need.
If you think you might need some financial assistance to
participate please complete the form here as soon as possible and prior
to the parent/cast meeting: bit.ly/wozscholarships
Registration:
A link to register for the show and pay the tuition and costume fee online will be sent to you when the show is cast. Many parents find this a convenient way to pay and sign waivers. If you prefer to pay by check, please make a check out to CenterStage Theatre Company or CSTC and bring it to the Parent/Cast Meeting. Tuition and fees must be paid before materials will be handed out.
Parent/Cast Meeting: We will meet on Wednesday, December 20 starting at
5:30pm to give out cast lists, scripts, rehearsal schedules and additional
information at CenterStage Studios at 901 Front Street (same place as auditions). Parents must be present to sign forms, and
actors must be present to be measured for costumes. Please stagger the arrival
for this meeting as follows:
5:30pm
– 6:30pm Actors/parents of those who have previously been in a CenterStage
show.
6:45pm – 7:45pm Actors/Parents of those new to
CenterStage.
Jeanie and Lynne and other staff will be available at
7pm to give a brief talk about the production for newcomers and to answer
questions. If you or your parents
cannot attend the Parent/Cast meeting, please email Ileane Olson (ifolson@comcast.net) by December 20, 2017 to confirm your
participation and to arrange for pickup of materials and payment of fees.
Performances: Dates are
tentatively scheduled for mid April at Louisville Middle School for six
shows. More information as soon as it is
available!
Rehearsals: Rehearsals will start Friday, January 19th
with a read/sing through for everyone. In general, our rehearsal
schedule will be: Monday 4:30-6:30
OR Tuesday 4:30-6:30 for Munchkin Ensemble; Friday 5:00-8:00 for Oz Ensemble and Principals; and Sunday 1:00-6:00
(broken up into rehearsal segments) for everyone. We may schedule a Saturday rehearsal
in the week prior to the show. We try to schedule around actors’ conflicts as
best as we can and make the most efficient use of everyone's time. Not
all actors will be called for all rehearsals, and we will do our best to break
up the longer blocks into various smaller segments. A more detailed
rehearsal schedule will be given, but is always subject to change. As we get closer to performance dates,
rehearsals WILL become longer. Our tech
week is the week before we open and will include some long and late nights. All actors must plan to stay at tech week
rehearsals.
Please be on time to every rehearsal and bring your script and a pencil.
